The Pembrokeshire coast and offshore islands provide habitats for a wonderful array of marine wildlife. The county's spectacular coastline and coastal seas contain wildlife populations that are not only Nationally, but also Internationally important.
There are RSPB sanctuaries, Sites of Special Scientific Interest, Special Protection Areas and one of only three Marine Natures Reserves in the UK, while most of the coast is designated as a Marine Special Area of Conservation. Needless to say these special places and the life they support need protecting.
Along with Statutory legislation the Pembrokeshire Marine Code Group works to develop and promote a voluntary code of conduct for boat operators and users. This is helping to ensure that all activities are carried out sensibly, with sensitivity and in a sustainable manner, allowing future generations to enjoy Pembrokeshires wildlife and wilderness.
Organised boat trips provide an excellent way to get out with trained operators who while showing you the wonders of the coast will also follow the Codes to minimise disturbance to wildlife. From Gwbert in the North to Tenby in the South operators offer motor boat rides or more relaxed sailing opportunities. The choice is yours!
