Enjoy Pembrokeshire

Rowing

Modern longboats are based on an ancient Celtic design and originated in Pembrokeshire in the 1970s. The sport is popular in Wales and there are now over 60 boats competing against each other in West Wales with teams going on to compete both nationally and at the world championships in the Scilly Isles.

The list of longboat teams in Pembrokeshire includes Newport, Fishguard, Porthgain, Solva, Little Haven, Llanion, Gelliswick and Llangwm. Rowing is one of the fastest growing sports in the county and attracts all comers from kids to eager adults.

  • Longboat rowing is not just for locals as some clubs also offer the opportunity to join them either on a one off "have a go" session or as team members. Competitions run througout the season, more details can be found using the links below.
