Harbours, Marinas & Slipways

Pembrokeshire is not only blessed with some spectacular sailing opportunities but the county also has the infrastructure to cater for all your water based recreation. The Milford Haven Waterway boasts over 20 miles of deep water sheltered anchorage with two marinas, endless launching and mooring possibilities and all the usual facilities associated with a high class port.

Many of the Haven's foreshores are designated as Sites of Special Scientific Interest and indeed the whole Haven is included in a European Marine Special Area of Conservation. Click on this link to the Milford Haven Port Authority website, which has a number of guides to assist in the smooth running of the Waterway.

Outside the Haven there are a number of charming, traditional harbours that offer the water user not just a network of perfectly placed facilities but a wonderful opportunity to discover the history and community behind your chosen port of call. Some are backed by well known tourist destinations while others are almost hidden from view cut by glaciers in the last ice age. They all offer varying degrees of shelter and tidal access and include Tenby, Saundersfoot, Solva, Fishguard and Cardigan.

Pembrokeshire is also blessed with a wide range of slipways that allow easy access to the wonderful Milford Haven Waterway and the open coast. Many are public slipways that offer unpaid launching opportunities while others are managed by Boat Owners Associations, Harbour Authorities and the National Park Authority, so launching may involve payment of fees and membership.
